Remember when Friday was FRIDAY

Good morning. It’s me again. Do you remember when Fridays were really Fridays? When you looked forward to dressing down because you had a new outfit to show off? When you went to the ATM to withdraw money for the weekend ahead?

I remember the thumping baseline that greeted you outside Circus Nite Club in Strathaven, the excited chatter of young people waiting to get inside the club. If you didn’t feel like Circus you could do Maze or Stars or a whole host of others.

Eating out was the norm. The Pizza Inn Hawaiian Pizza still had pineapple. People still had money to but it. Remember Ster Kinekor’s theatres 1,2,3 and 4 in Union Avenue? Putt putt at Water World? The bowling alley at Sam Levy’s?

Braai kwa Mereki or ku lake Chivero was a given paweekend. Shopping- on credit- at Edgars, Greatermans, Topics, Barbours.

Yeah, those were the days when there used to be a nice and fresh breeze every morning but these days we jus wake up to smell the burst sewers and see the dirty streets of our Biggest Cities
