The call of a nation

The nation of Zimbabwe pleads to all who were birthed within its beautiful borders, the nation which bore you when you took your first breath, the nation which fed you from the labour of its ground, the nation which taught you how to live, the nation that schooled you, empowered you, strengthened you, inspired you and propelled you to be who you are today.

Now this nation needs your help as it stands in travail as a result of a mismanaged government, and is moving towards a new horizon. This is your opportunity not only to return the favour to the nation which mothered you, but also to grab a hold of the portion which belongs to you. And there is an abundance of opportunities for you to take a hold of, far beyond your wildest dreams.

Whatever industry you are involved in, or you intend to get into, this is your chance to become a pioneer and innovate into unchartered territory, to move away from the red oceans of congested markets and create your own blue ocean of uncontested, highly profitable market space.

Never has there been a time as ripe as this, for the flywheel which has tumbled our nation into the fastest shrinking economy in the world (40 million % plus inflation) is at it’s turning point, and its only a matter of time before it turns back and makes this the fastest growing economy the world has ever known.

This nation stands on the verge of making history, but the question is, will you be there to savour its fruits. It’s going to take a lot of hard work and effort to push the flywheel in the right direction, but the inevitable result is that it is going to happen. So come now, be bold and audacious, lets rebuild this nation to be what it’s supposed to be. We can do it!

To all lovely Zimbabweans, let’s be loyal to our country.

Moyo I sympathise with your idealism my friend my feeling is that most who have crossed that ocean are highly unlikely to cross it back again (for good). I also think loyalty to one’s country is a rather difficult ‘quality’ to determine and I suppose geographical location really has nothing to do with ‘loyalty’ to one’s country. My own take is that all have a part to play in Zim’s renaissance i.e. diasporians and natives. Israel, China, India are examples of nations with a huge diaspora that is actively engaged in the political & economic fortunes of the home nation.

I like the idea of charting new territory that Moyo posits, but what about governance. We must desist pointing fingers at the individual; a fish starts rotting at its head. The head in our country must function properly, and create the conditions necessary for development, progress and innovation.

I daresay, without good, compassionate, Godly-led governance that forgives past misdeeds we will continue to go in a circle. Government must set the conditions that are predictable and not only favor a clique of dealers.

The playing field in Zimbabwe in so un-level. We must continue in our little ways to fight for democratic governance.

It begins with you and me, in our homes, because our leaders are born out of us, and what they reflect is very much what we are.
