A treasure trove of memories

Spring cleaning, airing out of rooms
And recesses of the mind
One stumbles on pleasant pleasurable treasures
From a distant past
Loves one thought would last
But, alas, never did
A stir of memories
Echoes of times and places
Now gone

Wry, whimsical smile touches the lips
As one sifts through old letters
The man comes face to face
With the child who fathered him
Similarities linger, traces
Etched in the grooves of aging being

Thoughts of days of uninhibited laughter
Youthful zest, untainted hope- the dreamer
Held once again, tantalisingly so
Windows to the soul
Opened wide open as aging hands
Tremble at the memories of old loves
…Ah, sifting through time, aging fingers
Wish they could linger
On a time… now gone forever
