Kids like making bubbles- that’s normal. Teenagers love a bubbling life (the one full of adventures). Again that’s normal. Some adults love a bubble bath- well that’s ok and fun too. I didn’t know which category to place myself making bubbles, living a bubbling life or taking bubbles at least once a day until I got to know about her.

Bridget Gavanga a.k.a. The Bubbling Bee or just Bubbles is a pleasure to listen to.  Her name tells a story. She is a queen bee that produces bubbles of honey in the form of a classic choice of music.

When she plays any genre, she makes sure it’s the best. Talk of gospel, urban grooves, sungura, kwaito, rhumba, you name it, she selects the cream in these genres. Needles to give examples for reasons beyond my control.

Her shows, like wine, mature with age. The shows get “sweeter and sweeter as the days go by and I keep falling in love with them over and over again.” As a child, I used to think she was British because she is so fluent with the Queen’s language. The language just flows and I’m tempted to think that she dreams in English, thinks in the language all the time and hardly uses her mother tongue. She reminds me of Tino Katsande a.k.a. Joyce Huni of Studio 263, who used to surprise my mum when a Shona word escapes from her mouth.

I remember her shows with Zobha. Hey by the way, my criteria for selecting a composed DJ’s personality is listening to the way he/she handles Zobha’s sometimes incongruous conversations. Bubbles passed the test with flying colours. She is the one who made me accomodate Zobha into my radio life. Now I find it very interesting to listen to Zobha because there is some sense in what he says.

Bridget, I salute you girl. You know your staff pretty well. I would be honoured to have your comment on this blog and tell me more about your life as a successful DJ.

Maface angu catch you on the rebound.

Yours truly

Tindo
