The problem is some of us operate on a shoe-string budget, we cannot afford to by Mr Gates’ email client and to pay for a personal email account with  the commercial email service providers.

Well the good news is for starters, as I know we all know, you can open a free Gmail account from Google. I like Firefox but have never quite had the same passion for Thunderbird. Have tried to use before but found a bit clumsy (or maybe that was just me). So went back to outlook which I’ve souped up with some nifty utilties like plaxo and xobni

You might be right Brian, I also had problems when I tried it the first time. You might want to try out the latest release. And another thing about Mozilla products Firefox and Thunderbird is that their power is in their extensibility i.e. the numerous add-ons you can add to them. Outlook is obviously a more mature product but a number of reviewers have acknoledged that Thunderbird has also come of age.
