Greetings to Zimbabwean friends, from Darin Newberry
Filed under: Family, Friendship, Community, Notes from the Diaspora, Spirituality for such a time
While I was in Zimbabwe, from 1982 through 1986, as the son of Assemblies of God missionaries David and Cheryl Newberry, I had the opportunity to attend Vainona High School for four years, and attended local churches and periodically participated in Scripture Union youth functions held around the country, through the end of 1986.
I have maintained contact with several friends I met during that time of my life, and I welcome the opportunity to become re-acquainted with others I knew. People do change over time, hopefully for the better, and I anticipate some happy reunions in time to come, with some of you I once knew.
I have lived in the United States almost continuously since 1987, marrying my sweetheart I met at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and settling there while I worked for various companies in that city. We now have three children, Desirée, aged five, Spencer, aged three, and Suzette, aged one. We recently relocated to the Fort Worth, Texas area to be nearer family in the area, and to seek better professional opportunities.

Sharri and I maintain personal webpages at http://darinsharripages.org/. Pictures, video, stories from our lives that are usually arranged into monthly entries. This needs a lot of work and revising, though.
Since Sept. 2008, I have been writing on a regular basis in a blog, http://musingsandmaunderings.blogspot.com/, where you will find my commentary on politics, philosophy, racism, corruption, current affairs, Christianity, whatever else I think of as I’m musing….
PLEASE BE ADVISED : This blog is labelled ‘adult’ or mature because of some of its subject matter. I occasionally quote persons using harsh language, and some readers may be uncomfortable with some subjects I address, so be fore-warned. There are no naked people’s pictures to view, or scurrilous and salacious stories, but again, some subject matter I deal with is not suitable for immature persons, including most children.
This blog may even be—or end up—banned in certain localities. I am acquainted with the concept of ‘prior restraint’, and generally use common sense, however, I don’t pull a lot of punches, but call’em like I see’em. If you no longer can access this blog, for some reason related to censorship, I encourage you to check out resources available to persons in certain countries who have to be discreet about what they view, or search for, on the Internet outside of their gated [or concertina-wired] communities.
