Use your talents
Its so amazing that each and every one of us has something peculiar to us. Think about the fact that of the seven billion people that are inhabiting the world today, there is no single person who has finger prints like anyone else’s. That indeed is a miracle, a mystery that we can never be able to decode.
But thats not what I want to share with you fellow Zimbabweans. What I want to share with you is the peculiar thing we all posess- different talents.
One person has a very good voice whilst the next person is a powerful business administrator who can turn businesses right side up. We all have different talents, our strengths, things that we are good at.
I recently did an interview with one of the country’s upcoming musician who at a tender age of 19 has released an album, won numerous awards and perfomed in the United States. The question that he evoked in me was how at a tender age he has done what others have failed to do? I expected an arrogant statement, ‘I have worked hard for it.’ No, I was in for a surprise, ‘I have concentrated on my talent and did things that I liked doing,’ was his simple answer
How impressive. And true for that matter. When we concerntate on our talents, we open gateways to success. We bring our lives in the foward zone. We begin to change spheres in our worlds and begin to see unprecedented successes
Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela and all those people that we idolize and who have made positive advances in our world did what they could do and left behind what they couldnot. Imagine Nelson Mandela as singer or Gandhi as a succesdsful business executive. The picture is almost unimaginable. But because these people have chosen to do what they discovered they could do best, today we are qouting them in everything inspirational article perhaps more than we do qoute the bible.
The problem that we are facing today is people want to do things not because thats where they are talented but because thats where the money is. Just because Will Smith exceeded the 25 million dollar mark a movie, we all want to get into acting even though we are the wosrt actors in real life.
This is a dangerous stance because it compromises our abilities as individuals,the ability to produce and to reach your maximum potential that can set the world into a non stop revolution. You stop to grow because when you abandon your talents, you refuse your powerful energies dominance. It is these energies that are crucial to our growth as humans
Marcus Huckingson, author of Put Your Strengths To Work concurs. He says that our talents are our strengths hence when we focus on that which we can do best, what we dont want moves away. We therefore cut short the amount of time and energy that we put into whatever goal that we are after.
Listen carefully, if you can dance, dance, dont sing because that will be sort of disastrous. I am not denying the fact that there are a lot of multi talented people in the world today but what I am saying is that your talent should be a driving force to you achieving whatever you set out to do. Your passions then should be ensync with your talents and I tell you, you will make great strides in what ever you want to do
Today, I challenge you Zimbabweans, children of the soil, get up and start following your pasions then can our things as a nation begin to move.
