Tolerance- Zimbabwe Poets for Human Rights invites you

A group of young poets will on Tuesday (27 Jan 2009) hold a poetry recital to enforce the importance of building a culture of peace and tolerance. Known as Zimbabwe Poets for Human Rights (ZPHR), the group has, since last year been holding regular recitals with different themes around the central idea of Human Rights for all.
According to a cricular from ZPHR, the aim of the recital on Tuesday is to use the spoken word “to highlight the need for a culture of peace and tolerance in our highly polarised society irregardless of political differences and ideological orientation in pursuit of the collective will.”
They say that the choice of the “medium of enlightenment”, which is the voice, to convey the message is both a celebration of non-violent means of conflict resolution as well as a plea for the need to open up spaces for objective intellectual debate and tolerance of divergent views.
There will be a discussion after the recital and members of the audience will be able to ask questions to the poets. ZPHR says that the interactive nature of the forum is meant to assist in getting the community to have a sense of ownership of the project and to help people think beyond themselves and more about collective human rights.
