HIFA 2009
Dear Friends
HIFA kicked off today and hey, I have to admit, it’s quite promising to be a memorable show. This is my first time to attend the festival and you can imagine the excitment. I went to the Funk Fusion Fashion Show and I saw some great designs by a Zimbabwean designer. Munyaradzi Chadzonga from BBA3 was narrating a story of a King who sent his sons to fetch a wife.
Great costumes and great models with this African style make up you know like Mafikizolo and Willis Wataffi.
The next show I attended was Mokoomba, a musical group from Victoria Falls. I have to confess, when the guys came on stage, I started to regret ever getting close to the venue. That was before they played their irresistable music on the dance floor.
Their music went well with the instruments and the crowd could not help bt get to the dance floor and started dancing to the rhumba (Tonga) beat. The interesting part was that even white ladies tried their best to wriggle their waists the Rhumba style. The crowd just went crazy especially with the tune ‘Misodzi’ which I believe was a love song. I am not sure though because they sang in Tonga but I think I picked up one or two words.
We then went for the Oedipus show. More details on this are on www.zimbojam.com.
I am looking forward to the Opening show which is starting in about 10 minutes according to my watch then another show at 9:15 to about 10:15. I will keep you updated though and maybe next time I will do with some photos so that you can get to see how much we are enjoying ourselves in Harare. As for today’s photos, please visit Zimbo Jam and I guarantee you will not regret it.
Until then, good night and see me again tomorrow.
Cheers
Tindo
