Sara Tavares’ much loved Balancé at HIFA 2009
Sara, the Portugal acclaimed singer/song writer imprisoned her fans in her irresistable fusion of multi-linguistical lyrics and instruments. I had only heard about her but never listened to her cd before. When she delivered her first piece, it was ‘love at first sight’. What makes Sara unique is her multi-linguistical lyrics which encompasses languages from different corners of the world (except Shona ofcourse). Surprisingly, Sara greeted us (the fans) in Shona and we hope she will take this further and who knows, probably her next album will have a Shona track (just hoping). The crowd kept on asking for Balance, a song that she wrote after her first visit to Zimbabwe. She said she was inspired to write this song to remind her of the beautiful Zimbabwe and it’s loving people. This is what makes the song so popular with Zimbabweans.(Wish my sister Mai Vee was here, I know she would have danced well to this track)
“Sara’s beautiful face blends well with her beautiful music” said one fan during the show. For sure dynamites come in small packages. Sara delivered a cracking concert that did not dissapoint her fans at all and looking at her, one might conclude that it was beyond her age. She communicated well with her fans and responded to their request which was receivedwith screams, lipsinging and dance. She is one artists to look out for because like wine she is sure to mature with age because she has a bright future ahead of her.
