Public meeting - Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA)
The public meeting will provide the residents with a platform to interrogate the state of service delivery in the City of Harare.
Date: 30 June, 2009
Time: 5:30pm
Place: New Ambassador Hotel, Harare
The following persons/officials have been invited to speak at this meeting;
- Deputy Minister of Local Government (Hon Sessel Zvidzai)
- His Worship Mayor Muchadei Masunda (City of Harare)
- Mr. Ben Rafemoyo (ZESA CEO)
Various leaders in civic society have been invited to participate at this meeting. CHRA has been inundated with calls from residents who are not happy with the exorbitant electricity, City of Harare and water bills. The Association notes that the rates and charges being levied by service providers are beyond the affordability of most residents and they do not correspond with the services that residents are getting. CHRA is appreciative of the fact that residents should honour their bills to service providers so that social service delivery can be improved but there is need to bring the service providers to account on issues of service charges so that there is transparency and accountability in service delivery. It is against this background that CHRA has organized this public meeting. You are cordially invited to participate at this public meeting. CHRA remains committed to fighting for the residents’ cause and advocating for good, transparent and accountable local governance as well as quality and affordable municipal (and other) service delivery on a non partisan basis.
