I received this from a friend and am passing it on to the world:

I am contacting you on behalf of Island Hospice Zimbabwe.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Harare-based organisation – the oldest hospice in Africa and a pioneer in the provision of palliative care and support to people living with a terminal illness, their families and carers. No stranger to operating in extremely difficult circumstances, Island Hospice has become known for its creativity and efficiency in responding to challenges and developing programmes to address emerging trends.

However, without regular donations the organisation will not be able to meet the increasing demand for its services, which is why we need your help.

It is almost impossible to exaggerate the extent of the hardship for the people in Zimbabwe, and not difficult to see the need for Island Hospice. With 30 years of excellent practice, Island Hospice has emerged as a leading centre of palliative care, trusted both locally and internationally for its financial integrity, professionalism, reliability and standards of care.

The organisation is almost totally reliant on overseas donors and grants to carry out its work and without regular donations will not be able to continue to innovate and reach out to the increasing numbers of people, especially children, in need.

If you are able to offer a donation, a cheque can be made payable to Island Hospice & Bereavement Service (UK) and posted to Island Hospice c/o Communications INC (Unit 3.07 pm; 27-31 Clerkenwell Close; London EC1R 0AT) or alternatively, you can make a payment online or through your bank, payable to Island Hospice & Bereavement Service (UK) at Barclays sort code 20-03-84, account number 20518603.

Please visit www.islandhospice.org for more information.

Thank you for any support you may be able to offer.

With very best wishes,
Roxane
