Samantha Tshuma waves at the crowd after being announced the winner of Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2010

They call it the City of Kings and Queens. It is the home of this year’s Miss Tourism Zimbabwe queen- Bulawayo. Her name, Samantha Tshuma.

The tall beauty won the hearts of the packed HICC at the pageant held on Saturday, February 6th 2010.

Zimbabwe Internet entreprenuer launches website to assist orphans

Dec 07, 2009 – Richwell Phinias, renowned internet marketing consultant and the co-founder of Dariro.com has partnered with a number organisations in Zimbabwe in an innovative ICT project meant to give hope and support to more than 2 500 children in at least 50 orphanages in Zimbabwe starting this Christmas.

Dariro.com developed a website www.dariro.com/christmas2009 where people with access to the internet across the country and over the world are submitting profiles of orphanages which are in need of various levels of assistant in their operations.

Details on each submitted profile includes such critical areas like contact details, number of children at the centre, people involved, owners or trustees, needy areas, wishlists, projects, volunteer needs, location and any other information that could be used to find development partners. Miss Bulawayo 2008 - An insult to the city of kings and queens

The event that rocked Bulawayo the Friday of 26 October 2008 at a local Hotel was the one of the properly organized events in the city of Queens and Kings. I would like to thank Sarah Mpofu and her organizing team for making sure that an event of that magnitude sailed through to search for a beauty Queen.

However I would like to attack the process models go through for them to enter the pageant and be part of a competition that is going to bring a queen that would represent at national and world level. I believe that the current Miss Bulawayo, Sharon Dube is a disgrace and a non-starter, she doesn’t deserve that title and it should be taken off her before we take to the streets. Read more

The Miss Tourism Harare finals, themed Face of the Sunshine City, are on this weekend at the Rainbow Towers (Harare International Conference Centre)- on Saturday evening.

A bevy of twenty will beaut it out for the coveted title which has seen many former holders go on to becoming Miss Tourism Zimbabwe and travelling around the country and the world. Brita Masalethulini and Angeline Musasiwa immediately come to mind.

The Harare contest is one of ten provincial events that will send three finalists each to the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe final later on this year.

According to the Sunday Mail, Miss Tourism Harare director Debra Chidavaenzi was quoted as saying: “We have gone through thorough auditions to come up with the final 20 girls and we are convinced that most of them make the cream of beautiful girls in Harare.” - I think she needs to walk through town to see that the REAL CREAM of beautiful girls may not be in the pageant.
