Organised by arts organisation Pamberi Trust, this platform to discuss artistic issues and help build the industry has been going on at The Book Café for some years, where artists raise issues for discussion which are relevant to their survival and success. Read more
Rimuka Rine Ngoma & Edith Katiji- a jungleful of song

This Thursday 23 October sees a visit to one of Harare’s top live arts venues by the group ‘Rimuka Rine Ngoma’, a unique fusion of traditional mbira and the southern African simanjemanje, which is loosely gathered under the afro jazz umbrella, in an exciting double-bill with the dynamic singer, composer, bassist and actress, Edith Katiji.
Hailing from Zimbabwe’s second largest city, Bulawayo – City of Kings – the group was formed by founder member Hudson Simbarashe in 2004, and plays in and around the city, with occasional visits to the capital, including HIFA last year.
This is the group’s second performance at The Mannenberg in Harare, courtesy of the jazz development programme of Pamberi Trust, with support from the W.F.Kellogg Foundation. Read more

Zimbabwean actress and playwright Danai Gurira, currently based in New York, visited home for ZIFF 2008. She joined their opening celebrations with the film ‘The Visitor’, in which she stars, and which won five film awards including the Best Supporting Actress Award for Gurira’s role at the 2008 edition of the Method Fest Independent Film Festival in California.
Courtesy of the US Embassy Public Affairs Section, Danai Gurira will make a presentation ‘Creating and Performing Contemporary African Theatre & Film’ at The Mannenberg Jazz Club on Wednesday 17 September, 5.30pm. It will be based on her own award-winning play ‘In the Continuum’, with excerpts from the play read by Danai and discussion to follow. The 5.30pm presentation at the Fife Avenue venue will focus on getting the HIV/Aids message across through theatre and other forms of the arts. Entrance is free and artists, groups, organisations and all people are welcome. Read more

Linda Gabriel & friends at the Book Café tonight
Pamberi Trust warmly welcomes poet LINDA GABRIEL back to The Book Café stage after a long absence while studying and working with the famous Market Theatrein Johannesburg since early this year. In January 2007 Linda was involved in the birth of Sistaz Open Mic, PamberiTrust’s special platform for emerging female artists, first as a volunteer,then part-timer, and finally junior project officer for the programme.
